The IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2021 stated that we have a compilation of sixty-nine individuals from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with a wealth of Rs 1,000 crores and plus. The total wealth of individuals in the list (from the Telugu States) stood at Rs 3,79,200 crores.
It is a spike of 54% compared to 2020 and the top position was bagged by Murali Divi of Divi’s Laboratories with a wealth of Rs79,000 crores (14th rank in the country). Among 29 states in India, Telangana has the sixth-largest number of billionaires and Hyderabad alone ranks fourth.
Hyderabad alone sees 56 individuals and families have a net worth of more than Rs 1,000 crore. Despite the pandemic, Hyderabad added five billionaires in one year. After Murali Divi, the other two individuals from Hyderabad in top positions are B. Parthasaradhi Reddy of Hetero Labs (rank 58) with a wealth of Rs 26,100 crore and P.V. Ramprasad Reddy of Aurobindo Pharma Group, standing at 86th rank with a wealth of Rs 19,000 crore.
As we observe, all these three billionaires from Hyderabad come from the pharma field, thus proving why Hyderabad is called the pharmaceutical hub of the country. Mumbai(255) tops the list of richest India followed by New Delhi (167), Bengaluru (85). Hyderabad retained the fourth position and Chennai at fifth place.
Meanwhile, Mahima Datla, promoter and managing director of Biopharma company Biological E’s has emerged as the richest woman in the Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Her fortune amounted to Rs 7,700 crores.
Executive Director of IIFL Wealth Shajikumar Devakar said the number of US dollar billionaires from AP and Telangana increased to 15 from 9 last year. A total of 62 individuals from the two States figured in the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2020 with their cumulative wealth pegged at Rs 2,45,800 crore.
The other individuals in the top 10 in the list of richest from the Telugu States are:
P.Pitchi Reddy, PV Krishna Reddy and family of Megha Engineering & Infrastructures with a wealth of Rs 23,400 crore.
K.Satish Reddy and family (Dr Reddy’s Laboratories) Rs 12,300 crore.
G.Amarender Reddy and family (GAR) Rs12,000 crore.
M.Satyanarayana Reddy and family (MSN Laboratories) Rs11,500 crore.
GV Prasad and family (Dr Reddy’s Laboratories) Rs10,300 crore.
Venkateswaralu Jasti and family (Suven Pharmaceuticals) Rs 9,700 crore
PVN Raju (Gland Pharma) Rs 9,300 crore; and V.C.Nannapaneni (Natco Pharma) Rs.9,100 crore.
