After more than 24 hours of making the controversial remark ‘boshudeekay’ on Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, TDP spokesperson Pattabhi was arrested by the police amid heavy security. He was booked under sections 153 (A), 505 (II, 120 (B) and 504 (R/W)of IPC and has been shifted to Governorpet police station.
Reportedly, police believe that the unrest in the state was caused by Pattabhi’s remarks.
However, Pattabhi’s wife alleged that the police broke open the doors and took him into custody even without telling where they were shifting him. Further, she said that they did not show the FIR copy and told her they would show it tomorrow. If anything happens to my husband, the government should be held responsible, Pattabhi’s wife said and added that they would move the court on the way the TDP leader was arrested.
Alleging that the TDP leaders were involved in drug peddling, the police officials served notices to Opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu, N. Lokesh and other party leaders. Following these notices, Pattabhi held a press meet and slammed the YCP government for levelling false allegations. While addressing the media, Pattabhi made the controversial remark.
However, YCP rebel MP K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju clarified that ‘Boshudeekay’ meant “Sir, how are you?” in Sanskrit and that it did not mean anything abusive.
Considering it an abusive and insulting remark, the YCP cadre resorted to series of attacks on TDP offices at various places in the state and vandalised the furniture.
Meanwhile, Jagan Mohan Reddy, said that the blood pressure of his sympathisers and party activists had risen on hearing to the badmouthing of their leader and assaulted the TDP offices.
Can’t the BPs of the opposition leaders also rise and can’t they also attack the YCP men, asked RRR. He faulted the CM for making the statement about BP, even when he, being the caretaker of law and order in the state, was holding a responsible position.
