Lok Satta chief Jayaprakash Narayan commented that the expenses of the Huzurabad by-election are far greater than that of the British Parliament elections. JP complimented the people of Huzurabad for not getting influenced by schemes like ‘Dalit Bandhu’ but voted for future.
“Rs 10 Lakh for a Dalit family is a never before phenomenon in World. During Covid-19 times, USA provided financial assistance of $2000 for its citizens and according to this the value of Dalit Bandhu money is $13,000 to $14,000 and the buying capacity of the same money is $60,000 to $70,000. Yet people did not bother about this scheme and did not vote for the ruling party. This means people wanted long term solutions and revenue generation models for themselves,” said JP.
Suggesting the TRS government to invest the same Dalit Bandhu money in education and health sectors, JP opined that there will be a huge progress in the Dalit community. “If the money is invested in providing better education, health facilities, employment and revenue generation, it would be highly useful for Dalits,” added JP.
These recommendations by JP are seriously worth it. India is lagging behind in education and the literacy rate is not picking up despite severe efforts. Health sector was also exposed when Covid-19 hit the country. It’s the responsibility of the union and state governments to improve the infrastructure in health estimating the future calamities.
