Union Home Minister Amit Shah concluded his three day tour of Andhra Pradesh and left for New Delhi. He chaired the Southern Zonal Council meeting and later held talks with AP CM YS Jagan.
Raking up the ‘Special Category Status’ issue yet again Jagan added that this promise made in the Parliament has not been fulfilled. “The disputes between the Telugu states are a matter of national concern. Till date the promises made in the AP Bifurcation Act were not met and this is a violation of the act,” said Jagan.
Requesting the Union Minister Shah to set a committee to resolve the disputes between Andhra and Telangana, Jagan added that there should be a time bound.
“Andhra lost immensely with bifurcation and it’s been almost seven years. Telangana has to clear the dues of electricity. The government of India should intervene in this and make sure the Telangana government clears all the pending bills. This would bring a respite for AP DISCOMs which are in huge losses,” informed Jagan to Shah.
Acknowledging all the demands, Amit Shah made a big promise to CM Jagan that the former would look into all the issues and try to resolve them at the earliest.
But the fact is never in Indian history, the government of India tried to sort out the differences between the states for political gains. Not just between Andhra and Telangana, there are many disputes between many states and they are pending for decades now.
