The YSRCP swept almost all the corporations and Nagar Panchayats in the municipal elections. Except for Darshi, YCP’s wave was clearly visible all over the state and in TDP’s fort, Kuppam, the tri-color of YCP flew high. But at one place the ruling received a huge shock and it’s a major setback for AP finance minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy.
The Nagar Panchayat of Bethamcherla was bagged by YCP but at 15th ward which happens to be the seat of finance minister Buggana, TDP candidate Venkat Sai Kumar scored a victory over YCP candidate with a majority of 114 votes. That’s a massive difference, even the YCP folks did not expect such a result.
Stunned by this feat, the TDP indulged in huge celebrations despite losing the Nagar Panchayat. The Bethamcherla Panchayat comprises 20 wards and YCP won at 14 wards and TDP snatched six wards.
Meanwhile at Kuppam, the counting has concluded and the final results are, YSRCP secured 19 wards and the TDP was confined to single digit with six wards.
