Narsapuram MP and YCP rebel K. Raghu Ramakrishnam Raju (RRR) urged the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court to take news reports on atrocities against women by the police as suo moto case to restrain them from denying the fundamental rights of citizens.
Mentioning about the police atrocities against the TDP women leaders in Anantapur who questioned about the abuses hurled against their party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu’s wife, RRR said that there was no democracy in Andhra Pradesh. Reminding that November 26 is observed as Constitution Day in India, he rued that the provisions and Articles in the Constitution were being violated and broken in the state. Is there no right to question or protest in the state, he asked.
He also informed that the AP government had given green signal to some contractor to go ahead with his solar power project worth Rs 25,000 crore which would begin supplying power in 2024 or 2026. Solar power projects can be set up in a maximum time period of one year, he said and wondered why was the contractor being given leeway for so many years even when there is no clarity on the subsidy he would be giving per unit of power on the day he would begin generating electricity. All this debt burden should be borne by the public and if one of them questions the authorities, they are harassed by the police, he pointed out.
The AP government does not hesitate to punish MPs like me too when it comes to questioning the authorities, he said. They foisted a sedition case against me and harassed me about which I cannot speak in the public, he said.
The rebel MP faulted the SBI chairman for extending Rs 1,500 crore loan to the Maritime Board of AP even when it is not doing any business. The state government plans to clear the PFC-REC dues with the loan amount which means the loan amount would be used up by the government even when the Maritime Board is a separate corporation. It means the loan is being taken with a bad intention, he pointed out.
At the same time, RRR reminded that that the SBI authorities and the Punjab National Bank officials colluded with the Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and changed a civil suit against him into a criminal case. The civil case was relating to my businesses and transfer of funds between my companies but this CM put in all his efforts to make it into a criminal case and got me arrested, the MP said.
He said he would write a letter to the SBI authorities questioning on why had they extended loan to the Maritime Board even when it was not being used for the development of the same organization.
He also faulted the YCP government for giving freebies in the name of welfare schemes to people who do not deserve them and even snatching away the funds given by the Centre to sarpanches in the wake of the deep financial crisis to implement the same.
Debts are mounting but there is no answerability by the authorities, the MP lamented and predicted that the state would witness a worst financial crisis in the next few months.
