Amidst the fear of third wave (Covid-19) and Omicron variant, there are rumours in Telangana that the state government is considering to reduce the occupancy in theatres. Also with AP government fixing the ticket prices low, Telangana Sarkar is mulling on the same.
With rumours spreading like wildfire, the Tollywood biggies rushed to meet Telangana cinematography minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. Producers Dil Raju, DVV Danayya, directors Rajamouli and Trivikram were part of the Tollywood delegation who met Talasani.
Clarifying these rumours, Talasani informed the industry biggies that the state government will not reduce the ticket prices and occupancy in theatres.
“The film industry was badly hit by the pandemic and it has just started recovering. There are fears of third wave due to a new variant but the state government is ready to face it. There are many unconfirmed reports outside and I urge people not to believe them. There are no restrictions on theatres yet people are not coming to theatres like earlier,” said Talasani.
Learning that the occupancy slightly increased with NBK’s ‘Akhanda,’ Talasani opined that with big films lined up this month and next, the footfalls might increase.
With the minister’s clarification, the Tollywood delegation was much relieved but they requested the minister to look into the other pending issues.
