The state of Telangana has posted 1800 odd Covid-19 new cases yesterday. However, in the daily bulletin of the health department, it was mentioned that some private labs have reported high positive results which tune about over 2600 in just over 3700 samples. The government referred these reports to the experts panel and is awaiting for the final results.
Immediately after this, there is a panic all over Hyderabad and people are scared to step out. Just when the fear is growing, the director of public health department, appeared before the media and issued a clarification.
Director Dr. G. Srinivas said that after the national capital, Hyderabad has most number of people in home isolation which is just above 6500. “We have taken notice of 13 private labs that are not following the norms while conducting the Covid-19 tests. We have served notices to them and if they don’t change their attitude, we would not hesitate to cancel their permission,” warned G. Srinivas.
Further he said, a private lab in Himayathnagar revealed 72 percent of positive results out of the samples they collected and we are evaluating this. So far 18 private labs are given permission and five more in pending as the government has decided to ramp up the tests. Currently about 6500 samples are being collected on daily basis.
On the social media viral posts, director Srinivas replied that just one or two people are posting such things on social media. He also asks to take a look at the people who have recovered from the virus and said the staff of Gandhi hospital are risking their lives and doing the service.
Despite the assurance of the health department director, there is a huge fright out there especially in the twin cities. Many people are leaving Hyderabad and are in no mood to return until next few months.
