Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan held a review meeting on airports and ports in the state with the officials and in this meeting, he proposed to have one airport each in all the thirteen districts.
Directing the officials, Jagan said that ‘One District – One Airport’ will have larger benefits for the future. “I would want the officials to come up with suitable proposals and plans for one airport in every district and the constructions of these airports should be done uniformly. I suggest focusing on creating better infrastructure and logistics for the same. These airports should be capable of hosting a big Boeing flight and runways should be built with top quality,” said Jagan.
The AP CM also instructed the officials to expedite the works of Bhogapuram and Dagadarthi (Nellore dist) airports which are already under construction. “At war footing, these two airports should be brought to operational,” added Jagan. Simultaneously Jagan asked the officials to put extra effort on Gannavaram airport which is undergoing an expansion.
On the ports, Jagan stated that the under construction nine fishing harbours and three ports, should be given high priority and after completion of these, the state has plans for five more harbours and this should be done with a time limit.
‘One District – One Airport’ is a good concept but the government needs investors who take up the projects on PPP basis.
