Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao called upon the people to drive away the BJP as it was ruining the country by corrupting the systems. He expressed readiness to set up a political party, if needed, at the national level and spearhead the anti-BJP movement. He said that political parties or individuals cannot cleanse the country but only people should do it. Separate Telangana has been a reality because it was the people who wanted it, he reminded.
When asked if he had any call from Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee just like Tamil Nadu CM Stalin, regarding her fight against the BJP, he said that he had not received any.
He also said that his remarks on the need to rewrite the Constitution was not baseless. “I am a senior politician with years of experience and so cannot speak whatever comes to my mouth. You will know why I made the remark at the right time,” KCR added.
Modi threatening states
He accused Modi of threatening the states in the name of power reforms. The Centre says that if the reforms are not implemented, the states would lose some benefit, KCR revealed.
The draft bill of power reforms was sent to all the chief ministers and Telangana also received it. “It insists that pre-paid power metres should be installed for all customers in a phased manner. Neighbouring AP had already installed 25,000 metres in Srikakulam district and has called for tenders for the remaining but I have decided not to go for the metres.”
KCR said that Modi was privatizing the power sector too in the name of reforms. “If every consumer should use power supplied from private parties, the country will get spoilt. Consumers will be left at the mercy of the power generating units owned by private individuals who would loot the people.”
‘No’ to power reforms
The CM said that Telangana is providing free power to farmers and subsidized power to various other sections in the society. “How can all that be stopped? I am sure I will not implement it. I even wrote a letter to Modi opposing it. We even sent the Assembly resolution regarding the matter to Modi. Despite all this, Modi is moving ahead with his decision on power reforms.”
“The most pathetic part is violation of the Constitution by none other than Modi. The Centre just sent a draft Bill on the reforms but at the same time, it insists that 0.5% of the FRBM limit would be relaxed if metres are installed. Even then, I will not install metres as people will get looted by private parties. If metres are not installed, Telangana will lose Rs 25,000 crore for next 5 years but I will stand on my word,” KCR affirmed.
KCR also said that the Centre was also not allowing two central organisations to extend loans to the Telangana government to carry out power works because I am opposing the power reforms, he said.
PM speaks lies
The CM accused Modi of speaking lies right in the public meeting during Mission Bhagiratha launch at Gajwel. KCR showed a video in which Modi was saying that the Centre supplied power at Rs 1.10 per unit which KCR said that was a big lie. Never was power supplied by the Centre to any state at such minimum price, KCR said.
He accused the BJP of usurpring power in several states even when they have not won the elections in that respective places. The party has not won majority seats to sit in the Assemblies of Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka but the BJP is ruling both the states by playing dirty politics. In Manipur and Assam too, the BJP has not won but it is ruling. The BJP is a shameless party, he added.
