RRR: Why Jagan Doing 50,000 Crs Cash Transactions In AP!

YCP rebel and Narasapuram MP expressed doubt over the cash transactions worth Rs 50,000 crore every year in Andhra Pradesh. It is surprising that the YCP government is sticking to distribution of cash to the beneficiaries and payment of currency at the liquor shops even in this age of digital payment, he said.

During his Racchabanda programme, the YCP MP said that even the party leaders are not happy with the volunteers as they are not able to mingle with the people like earlier. In fact, the leaders are worried that they are losing contact with the people, he said.

Every year, these volunteers are distributing Rs 18,000 crore in the form of pensions. Similarly, liquor shops across the state have a turnover of Rs 35,000 crore which completely accept only cash but no digital payments. This means there are cash transactions of a staggering Rs 50,000 crore per year which is really leading to several doubts. Why should cash be withdrawn and distributed to beneficiaries while there is direct benefit transfer (DBT) facility? It will be directly transferred into the beneficiaries’ accounts without any cuts. There are allegations that the village volunteers are cutting Rs 100-Rs 200 from the beneficiaries’ amount and giving the remaining only, RRR pointed out.

“We do not what is happening to the money. There could be doubts about fake names in the beneficiaries lists. In such a case, money can be diverted. There should be a foolproof system to check this corruption.”

Appointment of volunteers

He said that the appointment of volunteers of village/ward secretariats in Andhra Pradesh was itself a big waste of public money. These volunteers were inducted into the system without any public notification. All of them are either YCP workers or those recommended by the YCP leaders, he pointed out. They are working for the YCP but not for the government and this is a big fraud.

The finance department should give permission for recruitment of any staff for the government but nothing of that sort had been done by the YCP government with regard to volunteers, he said.

Further, he said that he had submitted a representation to Comptroller and Auditor General of India Girish Chandra Murmu detailing about the system and the aberrations in it. Even people working in the social media wing of the party and Sakshi newspaper are getting their salaries from the public exchequer which is unconstitutional, RRR said.
