During the initial days of Covid-19 outbreak in the state, Telangana CM KCR used to review the situation very often and call on the media and make big statements. But when the government started doing less Covid-19 tests, KCR hasn’t appeared before the media. So far it’s been nearly two and half months, KCR did not hold a press meet nor reviewed about Covid-19.
Out of the blue, KCR called for a review meeting on Friday at Pragathi Bhavan and after discussing with officials, the CM announced some soaps to the frontline workers. KCR ordered to implement UGC scale salaries for the faculty working in government medical colleges and also pay salaries to the newly appointed nurses on par with the old employees.
Apart from this KCR decided to up the age limit of faculty members working in the AYUSH departments to 65 years. Even more surprisingly, KCR instructed to recruit 200 vacant doctor posts in the PHC across the state.
However, KCR bluntly ignored the outsourcing employees. At NIMS, Gandhi Hospital and King Koti hospital, outsourcing employees are protesting for the last two weeks. They demanded to regularize their jobs and also hike their salaries by Rs 5000. They were getting paid merely Rs 15,000 since 2007. Though Gandhi Hospital Superintendent assured to look into their demands, the outsourcing employees did not back off from the protest.
Despite the government being ignorant, hundreds of employees are protesting daily at the entrance gate of respective hospitals and are leaving to their homes in the evening. Wish KCR takes a note of these outsourcing employees’ concerns too.
