NTR Gave Opportunity, Naidu Encouraged: TRS Leader

Published by

TRS leader Thummala Nageswara Rao was one of the guests at a TDP event and his presence turned many heads. On the 40 years formation day of Telugu Desam, the party leader Kambhampati Rammohan Rao’s book ‘Nenu Telugu Desam’ was launched.

Senior most TDP leaders, film celebrities were the guests of this book launch and Thummala also made it to the event. Speaking on the occasion, Thummala said, “NTR is the Telugu community’s pride. He brought a revolution in politics by giving opportunities to common people like me. He strived for the poor and his valuable contribution for the development of erstwhile AP can never be forgotten. If NTR gave us the opportunity, Chandrababu Naidu encouraged us.”

Thummala also recalled an incident recalling current Chief Justice of India Ramana. “When Chandrababu was CM of united AP, a single Rajya Sabha seat was supposed to be filled. Two names were in consideration and they are NV Ramana and Kambhamapati. Chandrababu called me and Mandava who were part of the cabinet then. I suggested Kambhampati’s name because Ramana was on the legal side and he can get opportunities later on. Eventually Chandrababu preferred Kambhampati and that way Ramana went ahead in his profession. Now we have a Telugu person in Chief Justice position which is a huge honour for the Telugu community,” added Thummala.

However, Thummala’s presence turned into a huge debate in the TRS party. He has been maintaining distance from party related activities and there are rumours in the recent past that he is being approached by the BJP.
