Former home minister Mekathoti Sucharita changed her tune and affirmed that she would remain a staunch loyalist of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and always support the YCP alone throughout her life. She said that she would be a supporter of the YCP only, as long as she remained in politics.
She urged the people not to spread rumours that differences have cropped up between her and Jagan.
Just a couple of days ago when the Cabinet revamp was done, her supporters fumed at Jagan and raised slogans against him and the party as well. They even protested against government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy for not giving appointment to Sucharita’s family members, after she was dropped from the Cabinet.
Sensing that trouble was brewing within the party, damage control measures were taken up and YCP MP Mopidevi Venkataramana was sent to her house to pacify her. Sucharita’s followers obstructed Mopidevi from entering her house and it is learnt that he had to take help from the police to enter the premises. There was talk that Sucharita had even resigned from the MLA post.
Putting all the buzz to rest, Sucharita was all praises for Jagan. Speaking to mediapersons, she said that she would be grateful throughout her life to Jagan for elevating a Dalit woman as a minister. She said she bears no grudge or disgruntlement against the YCP. “I am close to Jagan and can approach him without any hesitation. I know that it is due to compulsion that I was not given a berth in the Cabinet. There could be various reasons for putting me aside and I can understand that. Jagan treats me like his family member and I am grateful for that. Since 2012, I have been associated with YCP and would remain with the same party till the end of my political career.”
