In any thriving democracy, the main responsibility of an elected legislative is to put the common people who voted them to power on a pedestal and devote himself towards their welfare. But, there are a few overenthusiastic politicians who cross all the limits and resort to unbelievable hero-worshipping of their chiefs, thereby ignoring the common man.
We have already seen how several BJP leaders from across the country had praised PM Narendra Modi to the sky. While a BJP leader had once likened Modi to Lord Ram, another leader went on to call the PM a human incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Needless to say, this level of overenthusiasm and loyalty seems ridiculous.
And it looks like the same strategy is now being followed by the newly sworn-in cabinet ministers in Andhra Pradesh. Soon after swearing-in as the Minister of Cinematography and Information & Public Relations, Chelluboyina Srinivasa Venugopala Krishna had ‘advised’ the AP media to “worship” Jagan for a quick resolution of their issues.
And recently, senior politician and AP’s new Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao said that he has no serious ambitions in politics and that his only aim in his life is to fulfill his boss and AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s ambitions. Yet another senior YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu too has echoed Dharmana’s sentiments. The newly sworn-in Minister of Water Resources went on to add that he will forever submit himself to Jagan’s orders.
While the YSRCP media and sympathisers celebrated these ministers’ ‘athi swami bhakti’, common people rubbished them as a ‘silly display of loyalty’. While the leaders might think that they will score brownie points and remain in Jagan’s good books, they are not realising the fact that their statements not only mirror their insecurity but also damage Jagan’s reputation among the masses. It’s time these leaders put an end to their silly antics and channeled their energies towards people’s welfare.
