Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to set up 54 new hospitals across the state to provide better medicare to the Coronavirus victims. At present, critical care facilities are being provided in 138 hospitals. He said that critical care facilities are being provided in 5 more hospitals and three of them are already available.
Jagan Mohan Reddy said that Rs 1,000 crore would be spent in the next six months and that an additional 2,380 beds were being made available for the patients. The Rs 1,000 crore would be spent on infrastructure, paramedical staff, appointment of doctors and health staff. The AP government is spending Rs 6.5 crore every day on tests and quarantine facilities, which would amount to Rs 200 crore a month.
In the last few days, the state has been witnessing a surge in Covid positive cases and beating its own record registering a higher number than the earlier day. On the brighter side, the number of patients discharged has also been high.
Andhra Pradesh on Friday recorded a fresh single-day high of 8,147 cases of Covid-19 in the state, pushing the states gross up to 80,858. Now, AP has 39,990 active cases after 39,935 patients recovered from the infection and 933 died, including 49 reported on Friday.
