Kadapa is a stronghold for YCP and the ruling party swept the entire district in the 2019 elections. The latest developments in Kadapa politics suggest that its advantage Telugu Desam especially in three Assembly constituencies.
Former MLA Veera Shiva Reddy met TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh and discussed political developments of Kadapa. From highly placed sources we hear that Veera Shiva Reddy would be joining the TDP in the presence of Chandrababu Naidu. Veera Shiva Reddy represented Kamalapuram constituency in the past and despite not contesting for two terms, Reddy still holds a huge following and has his own cadre.
Apparently Veera Shiva Reddy is not in talking terms with AP CM YS Jagan’s uncle and current Kamalapuram MLA Ravindranath Reddy. With Veera Shiva Reddy meeting Lokesh, there occurred a panic situation in YCP.
Former minister DL Ravindra Reddy is also upset with YCP. Incidentally DL worked very hard for the victory of Raghurama Reddy in Mydukur constituency in previous elections. Yet DL was not given the due recognition by the YCP and he has been staying away from party activities for a long time now. Accordingly the TDP has approached DL and the party received some indications from the former minister.
Five times MLA Varadarajula Reddy is also looking to return to mainstream politics. Having represented Proddatur, Varadarajula Reddy has vast experience in the constituency politics and TDP has approached him to use his valuable experience. Varadarajula Reddy is said to have accepted the proposal of TDP and he might also join the party in near future.
If the three leaders join Telugu Desam, the party can gain immensely in Kadapa and thereby can give a tough fight to the YCP in the next polls. Simultaneously TDP is making swift moves to make use of this opportunity and is holding consensus regularly with the senior leaders.
