YCP Fooling AP Public On Corona Testing: Chandrababu

Published by

Telugu Desam Party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu alleged that the YCP government, led by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was bluffing the people with false Covid-19 testing figures. He questioned the government on why wasn’t AP appearing in the list of states that had done more than 140 test for 10 lakh population every day.

The Centre released a list of states that had been crossing the 140 mark yesterday and Naidu took to Twitter to ask the reason behind not appearing in the list even when the YCP government was making tall claims about the same by including a sub-head on ‘tests performed’ in the state health bulletin released daily. Naidu also tweeted the list released by the central government. The list included 31 states and Union Territories performing more than 140 tests per million population.

While Chandigarh performed 144 tests per million population every day, Delhi, Tripura and Goa government performed more than 1,000 tests per million population every day. Combining the average of all the states, India performed 324 tests per million population ever day.

This is not the first time that Naidu alleged that the stat government was cheating the people with fake numbers. Earlier this month too, he levelled the charges against the state government when there were reports that AP completed over 1 million Covid tests and stood No. 1 with the highest number of Corona tests in the country. Then he also alleged that the government was sending text messages of reports to those who did not even give their swab samples for tests at any of the designated centres. He accused the government of resorting to inflation of the testing numbers. He said that it was a shame on the part of the state government to cheat its own people. He also urged the central government to look into the issue.

Meanwhile, the number of Corona positive cases has been increasing by the day with more than 10,000 cases each registered in the last couple of days. The state government has been claiming that it had ramped up testing facility, to handle the Corona crisis efficiently as WHO stressed on the ‘Triple T’ formula – test, trace and treat.
