Jagan Handed Over A Big List To Modi

Published by

Even though the BJP led NDA government in New Delhi completely sidelined the ‘Special Category Status’ to Andhra Pradesh, CM Jagan has not lost his hope and yet again he brought the issue to the notice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

PM Modi took part in 125th birth anniversary of Telugu freedom fighter Alluri Seetharama Raju at Bhimavaram. All throughout Modi’s visit to AP, CM Jagan accompanied every step and before Modi flew back, Jagan handed over a paper containing a big list of requirements.

The primary appeal in this paper is ‘Special Category Status’ to AP. “Bifurcation has caused immense loss to AP and the state can recover only with ‘Special Status’ as promised,” mentioned Jagan. He also appealed to the PM to intervene in the disputes between the Telugu states.

Telangana DISCOMS owe Rs 6,627 crore to AP and Jagan urged the PM to ensure these pending dues are cleared. In the form of grants, the AP CM requested PM Modi to sanction Rs 34,125 crore and lastly the Polavaram dam construction. Jagan asked the PM to consider the revised budget estimates for the project which would cost Rs 55,548 crore.

The other pleas Jagan put forward before Modi are financial support for new medical colleges in the state and clearances for Bhogapuram airport in Vizianagaram district.

Many of these were part of AP Bifurcation Act but the PM Modi government is continuing to show step-motherly treatment despite repeated appeals. PM Modi is in no mood to grant ‘Special Status’ to AP but never explained the reason for snubbing the promise.
