Even though 2024 is two years from now, election heat in Andhra Pradesh is catching. With one-and-a half year time for the next elections, leading parties are busy finalising and hinting at their contesting candidates. While YCP and TDP are in the last leg of finalising their candidates, here is the list of probable TDP candidates for 2024 that is widely circulating in media circles. Going by the names, we can say that the TDP is a step ahead when compared to other parties.
Though there is no official announcement, we bring you some insider information based on the hints the party leaders are leaving.
Chandrababu Naidu is known to announce his party’s candidate list only at the last minute; however, the former chief minister, who is now touring parliamentary districts, appears to be making some early decisions in finalising his candidate list, as the TDP believes that early elections in AP are a possibility.
Similarly, the MP candidates are also being finalised.
Here is a list of candidates likely to contest AP in the coming elections:
Reddappagari Srinivasula Reddy will contest from Kadapa.
Ganta Narahari will contest as Rajampet MP against Midhun Reddy.
Chandrababu officially announced that he is targeting Peddireddy in the upcoming elections. Hence, he announced that Challa Babu Reddy will contest from Punganur constituency.
However, the party is still in disarray, as senior leader Ramana Reddy was hoping for a ticket for the same. It seems like Naidu is in favour of Challa Babu Reddy itself.
Nallari Kiran kumar Reddy’s brother, Nallari Kishore kumar Reddy, has been announced as the party candidate from Peeleru.
From YSR to Jagan’s regime, Satish Reddy has been contesting as a TDP candidate. He was given an opportunity as the Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council under the TDP government. He has been away from the party for some time. In his place, the current MLC, Btech Ravi, has been finalised by the party leader as the candidate from Pulivendula.
Despite the pressure from KE Krishnamurthy’s family in Kurnool district, Chandrababu has different plans for choosing the candidate for the Dhone constituency. While finance minister Buggana is representing the YCP in Dhone, Dharmavaram Subbareddy will contest on behalf of the TDP in Dhone this time. Although there are differences of opinion among local TDP leaders on his candidature, Chandrababu seems to be firm on his decision.
Former whip Kuna Ravikumar will once again contest for the TDP in Amudalavalasa, where speaker Tammineni is leading presently. Interestingly, the contesting candidate, Ravikumar, happens to be Tammineni’s uncle.
Meanwhile, former MLA Datla Bapiraj will contest against him in Mummudivaram in Konaseema district.
At the same time, some of those who contested as MPs in the 2019 elections will also contest as MLAs this time.
This time, we can see the TDP announcing the list of their candidates way earlier than other parties. A final decision is likely to be taken after getting clarity on alliance elections.
