Whether in the ruling or in the Opposition benches, TDP president and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is known for reaching out to the affected during natural disasters. When he was in the ruling, he used to reach the place with the official machinery and issue directions for immediate action. Now, when he is in the Opposition, he is going to the affected areas with his party cadre and trying to do his bit for the victims.
The relief and rehabilitation measures taken up by the TDP government under Naidu’s supervision after Vizag was battered by Cyclone Hudhud are still remembered by the people in the Port City and others across the state. Naidu camped in Vizag to monitor the relief and rescue operations. He also used technology for disaster management which helped the officials in a big way.
In 2013, the TDP chief extended help to the Uttarakhand flood victims, though the party was not in the ruling then. Immediately after returning to the country after a 10-day US trip, he travelled to New Delhi to console the victims of Uttarakhand tragedy.
A 20-member team of doctors from the NTR Memorial Trust reached Uttarakhand to provide medicines to the pilgrims stranded in Uttarakhand. Naidu always shows dynamism and concern when it comes to people being affected in natural disaster. He immediately swings into action and does the needful for the victims.
Even now, Naidu embarked on a two-day visit to the flood affected areas in the Godavari districts after incessant rains resulted in flooding of several coastal areas. His visit is aimed at getting information of the damage caused due to the floods.
During his visit to the flood-affected areas, Naidu criticized the YCP government for failing to provide the required relief and rescue operations. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy did not visit the areas personally to take stock of the situation, he pointed out.
Instead, he is busy directing his MLAs to prepare for the elections and asking them to give publicity to the implementation of various welfare schemes, flayed the TDP leaders.
Naidu is good at crisis management as he understands what is necessary for someone in trouble, pointed out political analysts. He understands the feelings of those in crisis and tries to provide what is needed at the moment to bring about some relief to the victims, they added.
