I’m Fighting With Centre: Jagan Tells People Of Polavaram

AP CM YS Jagan, who visited the Polavaram-submerged mandal Chintoor today, announced a new Revenue Division and assurance on the swift Rehabilitation & Resettlement package. Jagan stated that he is pursuing the Centre on the impending R&R package. Jagan stated the new Revenue Division would be created with four tribal mandals – Chintoor, Nellipaka, Kunavaram and VR Puram in the Alluri Sitarama Raju district. The said four mandals were Polavaram-submerged mandals of Telangana’s Khammam district that were previously merged with AP as part of the AP Reorganisation Act.

The CM of AP stated that his administration is putting full efforts in getting funds from the Centre. He said he has written letters to Delhi and is raising the issue in every meeting of his. Jagan said the R&R package would be granted by the Centre and it’s only a matter of the time. Jagan said he is putting pressure on the Centre to get the funds at the earliest to bring cheers on the faces of the people of Polavaram-submerged mandals.

However, Jagan promised to help each and every family of the four Mandals that were merged into AP. “By the time the Dam is filled with water, we ensure that the compensation is fully paid to every family,” said CM Jagan at Chintoor. Jagan stated that even after completing the Polavaram Project, the Dam will not be fully utilized. He said the water in the Polavaram Dam will first be filled upto 41.15 metres. He said the Central Water Commission won’t approve to fill the Dam initially as part of the Dam safety measure. “After completing Polavaram, the Dam will be fully filled with water only after 3 years and by then, everyone will be paid compensation,” said CM Jagan.

Earlier, Telangana minister Puvvada Ajay demanded the four Mandals to be remerged into Telangana. He alleged that the inundation of Bhadrachalam during recent floods is due to the Polavaram project. However, AP Minister Botsa Satyanarayana gave a strong counter to Puvvada Ajay and stated that AP government knows its best on how to take care of its people and asked Ajay to not intervene in the matters of the AP’s political affairs.
