Nitish acted smart and took the first move by snapping ties with BJP. He teamed up with RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav and other opposition parties and termed it as “Mahagathbandhan” aka Grand Alliance. Nitish Kumar is going to take oath as the CM today after 2 PM and 32-year-old Tejashwi Yadav will sworn in as the Deputy CM.

“Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) of seven parties, one Independent will work closely,” Nitish Kumar said after his second meeting with the Governor yesterday. In the first meeting, Nitish had submitted his resignation as CM of the government that has JDU and BJP.

Nitish split from BJP for the second time in the nine years. He earlier said the decision was based on his interaction with his party MLAs on Tuesday and their feedback. Even as Nitish held meeting with his party MLAs, Tejashwi Yadav had held a parallel meeting with RJD’s MLAs in which he sought the support of his party MLAs in collaborating with Nitish Kumar in the new government.

“The BJP betrays all its allies and intimidates others,” Tejashwi Yadav said yesterday while speaking to media along with Nitish Kumar. On the other hand, BJP has accused Nitish Kumar of “betraying of people’s mandate” by switching partners mid-term.
