Jagananna Soft skills To 1.62 Lakh Students With Microsoft

Published by

AP CM YS Jagan Reddy opined that the state government has opened a new chapter in skill development. At Andhra University, CM Jagan said the biggest problem India and AP in particular is facing is, the degree of students, job ready enough?

“My government has addressed this problem and with the help of Microsoft, 1.62 Lakh students are being trained in 40 different courses like Cyber Security, Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, Azure, Artificial Intelligence and others. Microsoft Up-Skilling program is first of its kind in the country and the tech giant will issue certificates to those students who have completed these courses and they will be called Microsoft Technical Associates and they are ready to face the competitive market with their heads held high in confidence,” said Jagan.

About 35,000 students have completed various courses and a few more thousands of students will be done by November this year. “Each of this course costs Rs 30,000 per student and that tunes to Rs 460 crore for 1.62 Lakh students. The state government held talks with Microsoft and the company was liberal and compassionate to train the students. The state government spent Rs 32 crore to bring Microsoft on board. LinkedIn India head informed me that the chances of students getting jobs with these certificates is very high,” said Jagan.

Listing out his government efforts to revive the education sector, Jagan added that GER in India is shocking. “GER – Gross Enrollment Ratios would calculate the number of students aged between 18 to 23 years getting admitted in colleges and in India, it is just 26 percent compared to the BRICS countries. We laid focus on this and re-written the curriculum and then we brought schemes like Amma Vodi, JaganAnna Vidya Kanuka, Gorumuddha and stuff to encourage parents to send their children to schools. We have introduced English medium from primary schools and many more initiatives are being done,” said Jagan.

The Chief Minister also addressed the issue of plastic and vowed to make ‘Plastric-Free’ AP by 2027. “A biggest cleanliness drive is being initiated in Vizag and today 76 tonnes of plastic waste is being extracted,” said Jagan and declared a ban on plastic flexis in the state. Jagan took part in the ‘Parley for the Oceans’ event and announced that Parley Future Institute will be established in the state.
