Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the next big thing in the tech world. In order to make Hyderabad as the hub of AI, the Telangana IT ministry has initiated a challenge called Artificial Intelligence Mission (T-AIM). Under this challenge, the government wants to address the issue of potholes on roads.
Potholes are dangerous in day-to-day commuting and many incidents have proved that these are life threatening ones. In Hyderabad, the GHMC lays roads every year but they get washed out whenever the monsoon season arrives. Despite spending crores of money, the potholes appear at every corner of the city.
To deal with potholes, the Telangana government wants to use Artificial Intelligence and take appropriate action. Firstly the government intends to work on roads in GHMC region and so it has teamed up with tech company Capgemini.
Under this challenge, entrepreneurs have to come up with ideas like identifying potholes, estimating the level of danger of a pothole and necessary measures to work on potholes. The best solution from entrepreneurs would be picked up and the winner would receive a token amount of Rs 20 Lakh.
This is really a new good initiative and AI can certainly assist in identifying potholes that the machinery can fill on time so that the commutters would not face any hussle. Let’s hope this initiative brings remarkable changes.
While the Telangana government is taking measures to solve the potholes problem, on the other side there is a different scenario. In AP, the roads are in bad condition and the state government is not looking into this issue. Irked by the negligence of authorities, the people of AP are trolling the condition of roads posting pictures of potholes on social media.
Last month AP minister himself accepted that the state government has no money to lay new roads and taking this opportunity, the oppositions are protesting on damaged roads targeting the ruling party.
