In the on-going Assembly sessions, Telangana CM KCR stated that Andhra Pradesh government owes Rs 17,828 crore to Telangana and is yet to clear the quoted amount. KCR blamed the government of India led by PM Modi that it is threatening the Telangana government to pay Rs 6,000 odd crores to AP else it would impose sanctions through the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Reacting to KCR’s statements, YCP minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy rubbed them off. “KCR should come up with documented evidence on the dues AP owes to Telangana. Instead of clearing the pending dues, KCR is politicising the issue. Such comments would damage the harmony between the Telugu states which eventually harm the growth of both the states,” said Peddireddy.
Passing on a suggestion to KCR, the AP power minister advised that the Telangana CM to cross check the records before making baseless allegations. “Ultimately people should know the facts. AP doesn’t owe the money quoted by KCR. But his comments might bring refutation between the Telugu states,” said the YCP minister.
Last month the government of India had asked the Telangana government to clear the due of Rs 6,800 crore to AP under Section 92 of the Bifurcation Act. The Telangana DISCOMs have to clear the bills for the electricity supplied from APGENCO between 2014 to 2017.
