The ruling party in Telangana never bothered about YS Sharmila and her paadayatra. But Telangana agriculture minister Niranjan Reddy passed on a silly comment against Sharmila who sits on a hunger strike every Tuesday in support of the unemployed youth and also demanding the TRS government to release job notification.
Niranjan Reddy used the word ‘Mangalavaram Marudalu’ against Sharmila but this happened way back. Last week Sharmila’s Paadayatra reached Wanaparthy which happens to be the Assembly constituency of minister Niranjan Reddy.
Reacting to the comment, Sharmila used harsh language against the minister. “Minister Niranjan Reddy is so arrogant that he called me ‘Mangalavaram Marudalu.’ He doesn’t respect women and such leaders are no less than street dogs. If anyone crosses the line of language, I will speak with slippers,” warned Sharmila.
The TRS has responded to Sharmila’s counter in a different way. Usually TRS ministers, leaders hit back at the opposition in the same language but in case of Sharmila, they have gone mute. They lodged a complaint against her with Telangana Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy. Minister Niranjan Reddy complained against Sharmila’s language to Telangana DGP.
TRS MLAs claimed that Sharmila is making baseless criticism and damaging the reputation of them. They urged Assembly Speaker Pocharam to take serious action against her and prevent her from making personal remarks. From the Telangana Assembly sources we hear that Speaker Pocharam will look into the norms of privilege motion and take appropriate action against Sharmila.
In return Sharmila posted old videos of KCR’s foul language on social media and appealed to Telangana Speaker Pocharam to look into this before taking action against her.
Suddenly TRS has shifted its focus on Sharmila and this might well be a political strategy to move away from the BJP and Congress.
