Last month a survey by Telangana Congress political strategist predicted that YS Sharmila and her party YSRTP will take away Congress’ vote share and dent the chances of forming the next government.
This report created a big debate in T-Congress but T-PCC chief Revanth Reddy rubbed off that Sharmila’s party will not harm or create any impact for them. The discussion on this topic ended right away but TRS party seems to have taken an opportunity from this and applied a strategy to push the Congress further down.
Accordingly the TRS party has targeted Sharmila. Over her bold comments against TRS minister Niranjan Reddy, KTR and KCR himself, TRS MLAs lodged a complaint against her to Assembly Speaker Pocharam. Thereby TRS shifted its focus on Sharmila instead of mainstream politicians like Revanth and other T-Congress leaders.
By giving importance to Sharmila, TRS is of the opinion that it will make people move away from Congress, thus indirectly benefit the ruling party. TRS has knowledge of Sharmila’s popularity among Telangana people and believes that her party has high chances of not forming a government but can play a significant role in splitting the votes. TRS wants to take advantage of this which would eventually hurt the T-Congress more.
Yet this would make Sharmila’s prominence grow in Telangana politics which is what she has been anticipating for from the day she floated YSRTP. These political equations may look feasible but Congress has its own share of vote bank and would only work in its favour when there is a fight in multiple angles.
Forming a government is always about numbers and the party that makes swift political moves, grabs the numbers.
