The Independence Day celebrations were grandly held in Vijayawada in the presence of AP CM YS Jagan. He hoisted the tricolor flag and received the Police forces honour on this occasion. However, CM Jagan raked up the row of ‘Special Category Status’ to AP in his speech.
“With Parliament as witness, during the bifurcation of AP, then Union government promised ‘Special Status’ to the divided SeemAndhra. It’s been six years, the promise is not fulfilled. Our MPs and government will continue to ask the Centre about ‘Special Status,” said CM Jagan.
“The current Union government doesn’t depend upon other political parties in the country. So we don’t expect the ‘Special Status’ getting granted immediately. But we are determined to fight for it and for the people of AP. If not now, I hope the Centre changes it’s mind in future and grants the ‘Special Status’ which is the need of the hour,” added Jagan.
Then the AP CM mentioned about his 14 months governance. “Despite the financial instability, our government is implementing many welfare schemes to the poor. Rs 46,000 crore were spent in the last 14 months and this schemes are not just for elections sake. The people will get the fruits of these schemes in the coming years,” said Jagan.
On the ‘Three Capitals’ Jagan said that very soon Vizag will become Executive Capital of the state while the foundation for Kurnool as Judicial capital will be laid soon.
