Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh is a life-line but it looks like a distant reality for its implementation. The YCP government has not lost its hope on ‘Special Status’ while the BJP government in New Delhi is in no mood to grant it.
At South First’s Dakshin Dialogues 2022 Conclave which was an exchange of views about south Indian states contribution to the growth of the nation, ‘Special Status’ topic came for a discussion. Surprisingly it was actress Poonam Kaur who shot this question to AP Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath.
Poonam’s question was that the ‘Special Status’ failed in its implementation due to political differences. Buggana replied that the ‘Special Status’ should have been brought into existence when the AP was being bifurcated.
“In 2014, when the AP’s Reorganisation Act was brought, the ‘Special Status’ should have been granted right away. Unfortunately it did not happen. Now the condition is that it’s like you are never reaching your destiny,” said Buggana.
Poonam also asked Telangana minister KTR about the contribution being done to the Centre but it’s actually enjoying the financials and being hypocritical. KTR replied that the Centre is punishing the states that are performing and growing and it’s not good in a federal system like India.
