When some residents of Banjara Hills complained of lack of electricity, ADE K Ravindra Mohan directed contract workers to look into it and resolve the issue. Upon directions from the ADE, contract workers CH Pedda Babu, Jagan, Kiran, Sudhakar and driver Balu had reached the spot.

Since it was dark in the night and heavy rain, the visibility wasn’t great. The contract workers had asked the help of watchman Nagesh of a neighbour house. Watchman Nagesh too joined them and came to help them by showing his torchlight. That’s when the car AP39CV 9999 – coming from Banjara Hills Road No 12 towards Jubilee Hills – crashed into them, grieviously injuring watchman Nagesh and contract worker Sudhakar. By that time, the workers realised what exactly happened, it already created the mishap.

Two other contract workers Peddababu and Kiran were seriously injured and being treated at Apollo Hospital. According to locals, the car was run by the car driver and his brother sitting next to him. They were allegedly in a drunken state and cops have arrested them.

According to reports, Kurnool MLC Challa Ramakrishna Reddy’s family has recently conducted a house warming ceremony at Jubilee Hills. The driver and his brother who came on this work had reportedly consumed alcohol at Himayathnagar. When they received a call asking them to sleep at Jubilee Hills, they returned from Himayathnagar and rammed the car into electric workers. The car rammed the electric pole.
