The BJP is leaving no stone unturned to wrest power from the TRS in Telangana and at the same time, vying to stand in the second position as the main opposition in Andhra Pradesh.
As part of its efforts to gain ground in Andhra Pradesh, the BJP launched Praja Poru yatra on September 17. The party has plans to conduct public meetings in 5,000 places across the 26 districts covering all the 175 Assembly constituencies in the state.
There are reports that the BJP national leaders would also descend on the state to make the people know about various central schemes being implemented and the funds allocated for their welfare. They are expected to explain people about their contribution to the multi-purpose Polavaram project and other projects in the pipeline.
The BJP also made it clear that it would not have any tie-up with the TDP either in Telangana or in Andhra Pradesh but that it would continue its alliance with the Jana Sena, led by actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan. The party is of the opinion that a truck with the TD would only benefit the regional party rather than do some good to them.
Further, the BJP leaders have intensified their attack against the YCP in the recent past. Party senior leaders like Y. Satya Kumar, GVL Narasimha Rao, Somu Veerraju, Anurag Thakur have been making many serious remarks against Jagan and his corruption.
Recently, Thakur alleged that Jagan’s government was involved in a liquor scam on the same lines of Delhi liquor scam.
People in Andhra Pradesh are never inclined to vote for the BJP for various reasons. In such a situation, it has to be seen if the BJP’s strategy would yield the desired result.
