Samajwadi Party founder and three-time Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav is no more. Mulayam was 82-year-old. He was admitted to hospital on August 22 and since then he was in the hospital till he breathed his last today. He was shifted to ICU on October 2nd and hadn’t recovered. For the past few weeks, his condition was critical and he was on lifesaving medication.
The veteran politician served as UP CM for three non-consecutive terms. He also served as the Minister of Defence. Mulayam’s son Akhilesh Yadav also served as the CM of UP.
After learning about the news, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recollected his relationship with the veteran leader and tweeted: “Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji was a remarkable personality. He was widely admired as a humble and grounded leader who was sensitive to people’s problems. He served people diligently and devoted his life towards popularising the ideals of Loknayak JP and Dr. Lohia.”
