In a jolt to the TRS party ahead of the Munguode by-election, former MP Boora Narsaiah Goud has decided to leave the party and join the BJP. Shockingly Narsaiah Goud accompanied Munugode TRS candidate Koosukuntla Prabhakar Reddy while filing nomination on Thursday and in a span of 24 hours, the political equations changed.
Going by the media reports, after accompanying for nomination, Narsaiah Goud reached Hyderabad on Thursday evening. He reportedly met T-BJP’s in-charge Tharun Chugh and Bandi Sanjay and held talks. On Friday Narsaiah Goud silently landed in New Delhi and is waiting for an appointment from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
This is indeed a setback and TRS will certainly lose valuable BC community votes in Munugode. This constituency has a considerable vote bank of the BC community but all the major parties have opted for Reddy community candidates. Cleverly, the BSP led by RS Praveen Kumar field a BC community candidate and they are confident that it would be their trump card and the votes would split.
Narsaiah Goud was first elected to Lok Sabha in 2014 from Bhongir. In 2019 he lost to Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. With Munugode by-election, he anticipated a ticket for him and he openly asked the TRS leadership to allot ticket to him. Narsaiah Goud even chided Jagadish Reddy who is overlooking Munugode by-election and Goud believes that Jagadish was behind the snub.
