A Day In Visakha: TDP Lagging Behind YCP & Janasena

Published by

Vizag turned a beehive of political activity with leaders of all the major political parties descending on the port city. While the ruling YCP leaders held Visakha Garjana in support of the 3-capital proposal, the TDP leaders held a round table conference demanding that Amaravati should be identified as the lone capital of the state and Jana Sena leaders planned to hold Praja Vani programme.

The Visakha Garjana, sponsored by the ruling party, gained more visibility than those programmes planned by the Jana Sena and TDP. The protest by the Jana Sena cadre where the Sainiks threw footwear against the convoys of ministers at the Vizag airport made the party prominent in public view. The TDP, though being the main opposition, could not gain much attention through its round table conference which was held peacefully.

The rally by the YCP leaders on the Beach Road and the public meeting held braving the continuous downpour since Saturday morning made it clear that there is support to the 3-capital formula proposed by YCP president and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Angered over minister RK Roja for making personal remarks against JS president and actor Pawan Kalyan, the Sainiks hurled footwear at the minister’s convoy while she was leaving the city. Incidentally, Kalyan reached the place at the same time and the Jana Sainiks thronged the place to accord a rousing reception to him. This led to a tense situation at the airport and Jana Sena caught the attention of the public. Social media users also expressed their support to the Jana Sainiks who were arrested in a large number from the airport.

The TDP too planned a round table to counter the Visakha Garjana but neither its leaders’ comments nor the programme could not attract the public or those active on the social media.

It could have been better if the TDP could make its presence felt in Vizag when the YCP leaders made a mark in the people’s heart by organising a public meeting, felt political observers.
