The TRS party shocked Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy in the Munugode by-election but the biggest loss was faced by the Telangana Congress. Munugode was the sitting seat of Congress and even more humiliatingly the party lost deposit .
Congress candidate Palvai Sravanthi Reddy got just 23,906 votes and it was a great fall for the Congress vote bank. Apparently this result was anticipated. T-Congress leaders especially T-PCC chief Revanth Reddy did not focus and campaign much in Munugode as he was occupied with Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.
But a section of T-Congress leaders are happy with Munugode by-poll result and they are the seniors like ex-TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, Jana Reddy, Jagga Reddy, Madhuyashki Goud and others. All these seniors are hell against Revanth Reddy and they haven’t worked that actively in Munugode by-poll.
And on the other hand, another senior Komatireddy Venkat Reddy completely sidelined himself from the campaign. In fact Venkat Reddy asked his followers to vote for BJP since his brother was contesting and to escape from the election campaign, he flew to Australia for a personal trip.
If all the seniors had honestly worked for Congress and Sravanthi in the by-poll, the party would have secured deposit and prove that its vote bank is still intact. With too much democracy in the Congress party, the seniors did not take the election seriously.
Also the T-Congress bowed down before the money power by BJP and TRS. Palvai Sravanthi alleged that both BJP and TRS have spent nearly Rs 300 to Rs 500 crore individually, making it the most expensive by-election in the country.
But the big question is what will be the fate of T-PCC chief Revanth Reddy? Will he continue as T-PCC chief or will the Congress high command opt for a fresh face?
