Reddy Brothers As Andhra Cricket Heads

Published by

The elections for Apex Council of Andhra Cricket Association took some dramatic turns and the ruling YCP’s touch and involvement was clearly visible. Friday was the last day for filing nominations and former bureaucrat Ramakanth Reddy was appointed as the Election Officer.

P. Sharatchandra Reddy (Aurobindo Groups Director), P. Rohit Reddy (YCP MP Vijayasai Reddy’s son-in-law), S. R. Gopinath Reddy, A. Rakesh, A. Venkatachalam and KV Purushottama Rao have filed nominations for the role of President, Vice President, Secretary, Joint Secretary, Treasurer and Councilor respectively.

However, only six people have filed nominations and so the elections has turned unanimous. But with Sharathchandra Reddy getting arrested in Delhi Liquor scam, his brother Rohit Reddy has filed nomination on the former’s behalf. As per the BCCI rules and regulations for electing cricket association President, a representative can file the nomination.

But just six people filed nominations that too for the six roles in the Apex Council raked up some buzz. Also never before two brothers contesting the cricket association elections happened. It is rumoured that others were interested in ACA elections but they were compromised by external forces.

Many of the people who filed nominations have direct and indirect connections with Vijayasai Reddy. November 21st is the last day for withdrawing nominations but none of them are likely to take back. The elections will be officially declared on December 3rd in the association plenary meeting and the new working panel will take charge of ACA on the same day.
