TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu has given the much-awaited clarity on renaming YSR Kadapa district. A couple of days ago, the former AP CM had said that, if he wishes, he could rename YSR Kadapa as Kadapa if he again becomes the chief minister in 2024.
Needless to say, Chandrababu’s statement led to an intense social media debate on YS Jagan’s name changing spree. However, Chandrababu has finally ended all the speculations with his latest statement. He has clarified that he will not resort to any name changing like Jagan.
While Chandrababu has said that he has no plans to rename YSR Kadapa district, he, however, will surely rename a few key welfare schemes and areas renamed by the Jagan sarkar. “Just renaming a scheme or a place is not a great achievement to boast about. Unlike Jagan, I have the dignity to respect our legends and history,” said the veteran leader, thereby targeting YSRCP’s unhealthy tradition of renaming historic places and personalities.
Chandrababu’s latest statement not only stands as a shining example for his professionalism and statesmanship, but also reiterates his respect towards his friend and archirival YS Rajasekhara Reddy after whose name Kadapa was renamed. Only a veteran leader like Chandrababu would understand that an eye for an eye will never be the permanent solution in politics.
