YS Sharmila, the president of YSR Telangana party, who was on an indefinite hunger strike for the last two days, was arrested by Hyderabad police and shifted to hospital in Jubilee Hills after her health deteriorated.
Sharmila had initially submitted a memorandum to Ambedkar statue at Hussain Sagar lake on Friday. While she wanted to sit on a hunger strike at Ambedkar statue, police denied her permission and shifted her to her party office at Lotus Pond where she launched the hunger strike against the Telangana government. Learning about Sharmila’s health condition, police have foiled her hunger strike by shifting her party leaders, followers from the site of the hunger strike area. They have moved away the party leaders as well as media personnel before breaking Sharmila’s fast. Following this, Sharmila was rushed to Apollo hospital, Jubilee Hills in the wee hours on Sunday morning. As per reports, Sharmila’s glucose levels and blood pressure levels dropped significantly and alarmingly.
Sharmila is fighting against KCR. She has announced her indefinite hunger strike after she was not allowed to continue her protest. Sharmila’s permission to do her Padayatra was denied by Warangal Police earlier. Following this, Sharmila alleged that KCR is not allowing YSRTP to do its peaceful protest.
Earlier, Sharmila in her Twitter post had stressed that the High Court had given permission for the march. Sharmila stated that the struggle is for the people of Telangana. Sharmila had pointed out that both BJP and Congress were allowed to do Padayatra whereas YSRTP wasn’t allowed. She had said KCR was scared of her party because she got public support.
Sharmila is the daughter of late YS Rajasekhar Reddy and is the sister of AP CM YS Jagan.
