Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is eyeing to win all the 175 Assembly seats in the state. He is of the opinion that the YCP can win all the seats provided the beneficiaries of all the government schemes vote for him.
Jagan has drawn an action plan to keep a vigil on all the government beneficiaries and ensure that all their votes fall into the YCP kitty during the elections. As part of it, he had recruited as many as 2.6 lakh village/ward volunteers to influence the voters. However, the Election Commission of India had issued orders that the village/ward volunteers should not be entrusted with election duties. Jolted by these orders, Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to introduce the Gruha volunteer system and recruit ‘Gruha Saradhulu’ for the purpose.
There is information that the CM has decided to appoint 5.20 lakh people as ‘Gruha Saradhis’ in 15,000 villages. Two ‘Gruha Saradhis’ will be entrusted to look into the details of every 50 houses. There will be three conveners in the purview of every Secretariat.
The appointment of conveners has become a bone of contention in the political circles. A list has been prepared with the names suggested by the MLA group and his rival for every secretariat. The appointment of the third convener has fallen into a jeopardy with confusion over who would be deciding authority.
Further, there are reports that people are not showing interest in getting appointed as ‘Gruha saradhis’ as there are doubts over what duties should they be performing, for the village/ward volunteers are already discharging all the responsibilities.
It is learnt that Jagan set Christmas deadline for the appointment of Gruha saradhis. Has the CM dropped the concept of Gruha volunteer system?
