YCP leader and former minister Kodali Nani lashed out at the TDP yet again. He accused the TDP leaders of being involved in the murder of Kapu leader Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga. Soon after the news of Ranga’s murder was out, whom did his followers attack, he asked. He was speaking to the reporters at a programme held marking the 34th death anniversary of Ranga.
YCP leaders are not connected with Ranga’s murder, he asserted. YCP president and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and even me were school-going children when Ranga was murdered in 1988. Ranga was not an individual but a system unto himself who could be attacked only by a system but not by individuals. TDP leaders and former ministers like Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, Devineni Uma and Ramakrishna Babu are directly involved in the murder, he said and added that he could name 10 more TDP leaders linked with the murder. Majority of those accused in Ranga’s murder are in the TDP but not in the YCP, he clarified. “It is not me but very senior politicians like Chegondi Harirama Jogaiah who had taken the names of TDP leaders,” he said.
Mohan Ranga’s son Radha could have felt that injustice was done to him in the YCP and hence, switched loyalties to the TDP but it does not mean that the TDP is relieved of the muder charges. There are many pressures under which political equations keep changing. Those at the helm of the political parties have to strike a balance in many areas and this could lead to dissatisfaction among the leaders, he said.
When the reporters reminded that Devineni Nehru, who was charged with involvement in Ranga’s murder, is linked with the YCP, Nani said that Devineni Nehru cannot kill Ranga. He is a force and system unto himself, the YCP leader said.
