Minister Seediri Appalaraju made some interesting remarks during Christmas celebrations this year. He said that the pronunciation of Christ and Krishna seemed similar and urged the religious heads of both Christianity and Hinduism to delve into the origin of the words.
Speaking at Christmas celebrations held at Palasa, Appalaraju said that he believed humanity was one. Jesus is called the messenger of God and popularly known as Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is an English word and in Telugu, the relative word for it is Krish, he said.
Pronouncing both Christ and Krishna, he said there is a similarity in both. “Did they originate from the same word or from different words? The Gods might be worshipped by people of different religions and beliefs now but in the ancient times, there could have been some connection between them. I request the Bishop to research into this area and try to understand the origin of these words,” he remarked.
The minister said that he had raised the same point before the religious heads of Hindus too and asked them to find if there was any link between the origin of the words, either directly or indirectly.
Appalaraju said that the thought had been on his mind since long and wants the religious heads to find out the truth.
