Businessman-turned-politician YS Jagan has been ranked as the richest CM in the country. This is as per the election affidavits filed by the Chief Ministers. YS Jagan has the highest net assets whereas West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has the least assets. As per the election affidavit, Jagan has Rs 373.8 crore assets whereas Mamata Banerjee’s assets are meager Rs 15 lakh. The assets of Jagan included both hereditary assets as well as self-earned assets.
Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu is the second richest CM in the country. As per his election affidavit, Pema Khandu has assets of Rs 132.08 crore. Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik stood at the third place as he owned assets of Rs 63.72 crore. Telangana CM KCR declared assets of Rs 13.72 crore in his election affidavit.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is the most educated CM in the country. He has a doctorate in Philosophy, a PG in political science and graduated with a law degree. Tripura CM Manik Saha has a masters degree in Dentistry. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Karnataka CM Basvaraj Bommai are Mechanical engineering graduates. Of the 30 CMs, 8 CMs own firearms legally. National media house The Print has secured the election affidavits of all the CMs in the country and published these details along with a detailed analysis.
Criminal Cases
Telangana CM KCR has the highest number of cases against him. He has 64 cases on him. Tamil Nadu CM Stalin has 47 cases on him. AP CM YS Jagan has 38 cases. While KCR is named in cases of riots and attempt-murder, Jagan is named in cheating cases. A kidnap case was booked against Tamil Nadu CM Stalin.
