The Andhra Pradesh High Court has ordered a case against AP Irrigation minister Ambati Rambabu for selling luck draw coupons in his Assembly constituency. Going into details Ambati was the show stopper at a cultural event on Bhogi day. He danced with folk artists, living up the label ‘Sambarala Rambabu,’ he was recently given by Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan.
Before this, minister Ambati allegedly sold lucky draw coupons to people. These coupons had the images of AP CM YS Jagan and Ambati and the lucky draw lured people with fancy gifts such as cars, cash price and others.
Jana Sena objected to this because there is a prohibition (ban) against lucky draw activities. The Jana Sena approached the AP High Court since the local police were hesitating to take action against minister Ambati. The Jana Sena leaders claimed that three lakh coupons were printed and YCP karyakatas and volunteers asked to sell these coupons for Rs 100 each.
The AP High Court after due hearing ordered the Sathenapalle police to lodge a case against minister Ambati under appropriate sections. However, Ambati is yet to open up on this lucky draw controversial episode.
