Political atmosphere heated up after YCP MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy announced quitting the party following the phone-tapping controversy. While the state government downsized his security by recalling two gunmen, Kotamreddy said that he was giving a return gift to the state by handing over the remaining two gunmen also to the government. Kotamreddy has a total of four gunmen for his security.
The removal of two of the gunmen from my security indicates that the state government wants to harass me mentally, he said, adding that he was receiving several threat calls of late. “I am one of the few MLAs refusing to accept the security of gunmen even when I was in the opposition benches. Now, you have given me a gift by removing two gunmen and it is my responsibility to reciprocate the same way. So, I am handing over the remaining two gunmen also to you,” he said.
He thanked the government and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for providing him security cover so far. “Henceforth, I would move without any security cover and so, my rivals can do any harm to me.”
He said that his voice would keep increasing with each passing day as it is people’s voice. I will keep raising people’s grievances and none can stop me from doing it, he affirmed.
Removal of gunmen would not deter me from moving in my constituency. Taggedele ..Taggedele, he said.
The MLA also said that he has personal bonding with all those working with him and in the same way, he also shares some connection with the four gunmen provided with him. When the MLA asked two of the gunmen he was handing over to the government to come before the media, both of them was literally trying to fight back tears. The MLA tried to console them by hugging both of them.
“On one hand, the government says that it has the confidence that it would win all the 175 seats in the next elections. Jagan also has a number of advisors, regional coordinators and social media managers to help him achieve his goal and all of them are targeting one MLA (referring to himself). I am just one MLA who is not with you while all the rest are following you. Why should you fear me and target me,” he asked.
