The Joint Houses of Parliament witnessed huge protests against business tycoon Gautam Adani led Adani Groups. The opposition alleged that PM Narendra Modi led BJP government’s policies are benefiting Adani Groups and after Hindenburg Research report went viral, the allegations gained huge strength.
While the whole country is discussing Adani Groups rise in short time, in Andhra Pradesh, the YCP government has laid red carpet. On Wednesday’s cabinet meeting, the YCP government sanctioned hundreds of acres to Adani Groups for its various projects.
In the joint Anantapur district, AP government allocated 406.46 acres of land for Adani Groups’ Green Energy Limited for its 500 Megawatts Pumped Hydro Storage Power project. The State government proposed to sell the land at Rs 5 per acre but here the land is more expensive than the YCP sarkar quoted price.
Besides this for the same project, another 470 acres of land in Kadapa district, 362 acres in Manyam Parvathipuram district and another 318 acres in the same district was allotted by the YCP government.
Apart from these sanctions, the YCP government reportedly allotted 60 acres in Vizag. Adani Groups is estimated to invest Rs 7210 crore with a Data Centre, Skilled University, Business Park and others in the land that falls under Vizag Tech Park Limited (VTPL). The AP cabinet also approved to provide industrial incentives to Adani Groups which is surprising.
Three years back Adani Groups has signed MoU with the AP government for an investment worth Rs 14,634 crore. 130 acres of land was allocated initially but till date the project did not see any light. Now another 60 acres was allotted, taking the total to 190 acres.
In December 2022, the AP government brought a new policy for Pumped Storage Hydal Power Projects. As per this policy, AP government approved projects for Adani Groups, Aurobindo, Indosol, Shiridi Sai companies.
However the AP government did not invite tenders for allotments of lands to the companies for establishing Pumped Storage Hydal Power Projects breaching Central Electricity Authority (CEA) regulations. Without inviting tenders, sanctioning land and projects to companies caused a stir.
These decisions prove that Adani is always favourite for AP CM Jagan.
