In Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Desam has close to 50 Assembly constituencies with strong cadre presence and trust of people. But this trust was breached in 2019 in the wave of YCP’s fan. Many of TDP leaders gave a tough fight to YCP candidates and lost by a slender margin.
Political analysts now estimate these constituencies and the winning chances of TDP especially in those places where the win is just a cake walk.
In 2019, there was huge anti-incumbency against Telugu Desam government. YCP cashed it and Jagan offered tickets to first-timers. With YCP’s wave on high, the first-timers defeated the mighty TDP’s seniors. Now the atmosphere has changed and FAN is waving in reverse direction.
Currently there is a huge gap between YCP MLAs and the public of respective constituencies. The reason being the YCP MLAs did not live up to the expectations of people. Moreover a majority of the MLAs are always unavailable to the public.
The Telugu Desam took advantage of this and is reaching out to people in need. With TDP regaining its strength, experts say that this is a superb opportunity.
It’s similar situation in Ongole, Vijayawada Central, Tadikonda, Vinukonda, Gurajala, Araku and Paderu constituencies. The local MLAs in these constituencies haven’t worked as per people’s desires. The general opinion is that many TDP MLAs worked effectively between 2014-19 compared to the YCP MLAs.
Yet the political analysts opine that TDP regaining its glory will depend on the party candidates in respective constituencies.
