Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s wife Bharathi is set to take a plunge into politics and contest the elections next time, if the buzz in Kadapa political circles is to be believed. There is speculation that she would contest from Jammalamadugu in Kadapa district, the native constituency of Jagan Mohan Reddy.
There is information that Jagan is planning to make Jammalamadugu also the YCP’s fort, in addition to Pulivendula, by next elections. As part of it, Bharati is entering into the election race from Jammalamadugu constituency.
The steel plant planned to be set up in Kadapa district would also come up in Jammalamadugu. Jagan laid the foundation stone for the steel plant at Sunnaparallapalli in Jammalamadugu mandal. There are plans to develop the constituency after establishing the steel plant. There is a proposal to set up an airport too in this constituency. In view of the development plans chalked out in a large-scale, Jagan is trying to make this constituency his family’s stronghold, said political analysts.
Jagan is planning to field Bharati from the constituency as a strong rival to the TDP candidate. As Rama Subba Reddy is vying for the constituency next time, Jagan is planning to douse the dissent by offering an MLC seat to him.
