Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan had protested against the bad condition of roads in AP and his party continues to expose the damaged roads and negligence of YCP government. Not just the oppositions, even the general public are vexed with the attitude of the YCP government despite repeated requests for new roads.
Surprisingly there is a moment in the YCP government but it’s not the public and opposition that changed their mind. In fact it’s all the blessings of PK i.e, political strategist Prashant Kishor and his I-PAC team.
Previously the R&B department had prepared a report back in October 2022 and this report had details of damaged roads across AP. The report suggested that 6182 kilometres of roads need immediate attention and this would cost Rs 1700 crore. However, the AP government has been going through a severe financial crunch for the last year or so and the YCP government has set this report aside.
Recently the I-PAC team visited all the 175 Assembly constituencies in AP and studied various problems of the public. Damaged roads is the most reported concern and in the report, the I-PAC team suggested laying at least five new roads in every Assembly constituency.
A total of 875 damaged roads including 442 under R&B department, 300 Panchayat Raj and 133 Municipalities have been identified and I-PAC in its report added that these roads are in horrible condition and they need to be fixed at the earliest. The report further stated that if roads in these 875 locations are not laid, it could play an influential role in the 2024 elections.
Taking this report seriously, the YCP government has summoned the R&B engineers to send estimates for new roads at the given locations. With orders from the state government, the engineers have started their work. The YCP government plans to invite tenders by March and begin the road works in April and the deadline might last till June before the Monsoon hits.
