A rare scene of TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu and YCP senior leader and MP V. Vijayasai Reddy sitting beside each other and having a friendly chat at Nandamuri Taraka Ratna’s residence caught public attention, when the duo reached there to pay their tributes to the actor.
Surprisingly, Vijayasai Reddy tried to speak to Naidu even when the latter was boarding his car to leave the place. Taraka Ratna was a relative to both Naidu and Vijayasai Reddy.
Reddy is known for his critical tweets against Naidu and his son Lokesh, insulting and denigrating them in every move. The tweets reflect bitter rivalry and animosity between the YCP and the TDP. Several TDP leaders felt that Naidu should not have allowed Vijayasai Reddy to get near him for the abusive language he uses against him in his tweets.
The YCP leaders also did not like Vijayasai Reddy exchange words with Naidu. However, political analysts felt that if there was any loss to anybody in this incident, it was Vijayasai Reddy who would be at a disadvantageous position. It is Reddy who keeps castigating Naidu and Lokesh but Naidu never criticised Reddy on the micro-blogging site.
The friendly talk between the duo also makes it clear that Naidu treats leaders of other parties only as political opponents but never has personal animosity with them. Despite being criticised by Vijayasai Reddy, Naidu did not allow that fact to interfere with his personal relationship he shares with Taraka Ratna. By treating Vijayasai Reddy even when he left no opportunity to criticise Naidu, the TDP boss only showed his magnanimity and poised behaviour.
Vijayasai Reddy could have faced some awkward moments to open a dialogue with Naidu but he was forced to do it as he was in the latter’s company when he went to condole the death of his relative.
However, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would not like such interactions with his rivals. Jagan had already cut off the importance of Vijayasai Reddy to some extent. Will he further reduce the powers and influence of Reddy following his friendly talk with Naidu?
